We need humanity of honor.

The first production of ours " No mans land " has been appreciated, loved, hated, critically adored and critisised... But overall its been one thing, a great experience and hence a Great success at that... Taking the baton from there we have to move on, cause its in our destiny to reach the stars.

Keeping that great cause in mind, we are moving onto our next prestigious project. And to make the next production of ours a brilliant one technically, a play with a soul we need a strong team who are strong in the basics of theatre.

Hence, We are looking for a team which can stand up to this and think of theatre with a passion and zeal unparelleled. So people who wanna be a part of us, please drop in a message at fourthwalltheatre@gmail.com.

Love,
Sid

No Man's Land - An English Play

The First production from the house of The Fourth Wall Theatre 'No man's land' is going on to the stage in June. Fianlly all the blocks and pieces are being put together. And the magic's gonna unfold before you even realise it. The Fourth Wall Theatre is bringing to the stage A poignant story of three soldiers stuck in No man's land. A story set in the Bosnia-Serbia conflict of the early 90's. The play is an adaptation to the Oscar-winning french film by Danil Tanovic.

The story strikes a chord with todays generation taking into account the eternal dilemma of world history - WAR. The play is a war drama and tells the stories of the millions of soldiers embroiled in a war of their lives and their countries.

The concept of the play is Universal as it can be related to any conflict in the current world.

The play is being staged in The backyard, Alliance Francaise, Chennai on the 10th, 11th and 18th of June, 2006. Tickets will be available from the 03rd of June at Landmark and Levis outlets across Chennai.

We thank our costumes sponsor Levis Signature for their immense support and help.

A Mild Change In Schedule.

Dear People,

So whats been happening if it's not dead yet! Yeah, I'll throw some light on it gladly. The thing is, we couldn't get a slot as scheduled for our first production No man's land at The Alliance. Hence the play's been re-scheduled to May 26th, 27th and 28th, as against first week of May. Nothing to be worried about. So Chennai, get ready for the new era. Its on the waking......

The Sponsors.

Dear People,

The next fifteen days are a very crucial time in the timeline of The Fourth Wall. I guess I need to start from the beginning to explain what's been happening with The Fourth Wall in the past few days. Well, Yeah the script's been finalised as well as the venue which is at the Alliance Francaise, Chennai. The dates of the show are tentatively fixed at 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th of May. We'll be doing a maximum of 6 shows in the above days. The choice of fixing May for the production to happen is the holiday season. As a major chunk of the theatre going crowd is the college students and professionals. I think scheduling the play to their convenience is the most important thing and hence May.

So the venue and date as well as the play is in place. The next or even "The most important thing" for the production to take place is the M factor. Yeah baby, The money. The money to run the production is supposed to come from the sponsors. Well, it need not necessarily be money, it can also be in kind. Hence, the next fifteen days are the sponsorship days for The Fourth Wall. The team is in place and we are doing good research in finding potential sponsors. But it would be great if you The Fourth Wallians can help me out anyway possible. Be it information, contacts or just about anything. Please come forward and help us out... Make this dream turn to a reality...

Loadsa Love,
The Fourth Wall.

The Script Money and Everything

Hi People,

That was such a great response i have got from all of you for the choice of no man's land. The scripting is going on and will be done quite soon. It's not much of a change but then there are a lot of changes which need to be done from the movie cause of the infinite scene changes which happen in the movie which cant happen on a stage. Well i have nearly worked out the finances as such for the play and yeah believe me it's a big production in that way. But then i guess the play is a great one and i dont wanna go back on this.

So hence, the fight for the sponsors begins.... Come what may... This play's gonna rock. :-)

Love,
The Fourth Wall.

And the play's gonna be...

The selection of the play is through for our first production. Its gonna be the theatrical adaptation of the movie No man's land which won the best screenplay and best foriegn film beating our lagaan at the oscars. I saw this movie two years back when i was at IIT doing my third year. I was very impressed by this film in the end that i decided at that particular moment that i am gonna adapt this movie to theatre. Its a brilliant satire on war. War between no particular countries in general, though its based on the Bosnia-Serbia conflict. The movie shouts out loud the futility of war in these times. How stupid the UN is at handling conflicts. How politics give an upper hand to the lives of the common men. Its very disturbing as well entertaining in its narration. Its a brilliant concept.

So three cheers to No man's Land. Three cheers to Fourth Wall Theatre.

People please make observations and post your thoughts. It would help us a great deal.

Love,
The Fourth Wall

The Changes begin...

Hmm....The Fourth Wall movement started...but a hell lof changes have taken place from it's inception one month back to now. I have notify you all with the main change, which is that it's gonna be Chennai theatre group as against the idea of starting it out in Hyderabad. The main reason is continuity. To be more elaborate, to create an audience in a place where there is no popular theatre culture is not an easy thing for a new theatre group with not much financial muscle. I will definitely take up that adventure in the near future. So hence The Fourth Wall Theatre Company belongs to Chennai.

Theatre in Chennai these days is rocking. There used to be a time three or four years back when i went for a show there was a meagre audience of say about 30 in sivagami petachi auditorium. Now what with the commercial theatre groups like evam have come in things have changed. Now its a culture. Theatre no longer belongs to the elite, it belongs to the youth currently in chennai. The vision is to bring broadway to our very own chennai. Life would rock, i am sure.
